Your blog gave me more stories to share with my family. I love connecting with cousins and learning more and more about our family history. One Vigil ancestor was married three times and fathered 22+ children!
My Valdez ancestor was Domingo's older brother Jose Ruiz Valdes.
Through him, son Francisco Antonio Valdez, to Pedro Valdes, to Buenaventura Valdes, to Juan Ramon Valdes (who was married to Margarita Trudeau, granddaughter of Jean Baptiste Trudeau, pioneer and explorer of American territories and sister of Jean Baptiste Trudeau III, Donner Party survivor), to Juan Isidro Valdes, to Rita Valdez, my great great grandmother.
In the course of all this research I've connected with many cousins, especially this last year. It's interesting to find that even family friends who have New Mexican descent are in fact relatives as well.
It's an amazing history, following my ancestors from their agrarian beginnings in Rio Arriba, to mining in Pueblo, to manufacturing in Denver during WWII and finally settling in San Francisco Bay Area, post war.curtishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04646097246868017908noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-322944348679265069.post-69667858808150781762021-10-09T19:04:45.959-07:002021-10-09T19:04:45.959-07:00Hello, I found this article as I started diving in...Hello, I found this article as I started diving into research on the Valdez family from Taos after learning more about my ancestry. I enjoyed this article and cried a few times after feeling your passion and spirit. I have saudade tattooed on my body specifically because it’s inability to be translated into words but a feeling I’ve always felt strongly and understood. I love Anthony Bourdain and it broke my heart when he passed. I too have been misunderstood by people’s inability to handle my fiery soul. One of my ancestors was sold by the Valdez family after falling in love with one of the sons and having children. I hope this message is well received
and you reach out to me and we can share our passion and curiosity. I don’t know much else about the Valdez family and am just beginning my research and you’re the first article I have come across.

ashanee.brooks@gmail.comashaneehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07649262021728922878noreply@blogger.com
